Wypher Marouc
"Look at the bright side...I'm here!"

Early Life
Wypher had a rather simple youth to his recollection - His family, both Viera with darker hair, led an apocathary in a camp deep in the woods of Gridania. His childhood was spent learning about the different plants of the wilderness; What is safe to eat, what is definitely NOT safe to eat, what to use for potions, poisons - He became quite the expert of growth in the woods. As he grew a bit more into young adulthood, Wypher started feeling a bit tired of the same run-of-the-mill each day. His family was very aggressive in making sure he stayed safe in the camp, worried that something may happen to him if he were to go wandering out into the woods. Despite this, Wypher had snuck out one night with the hunting pack to see how it really is outside of the camp. And learn did he! Wolves, bears, and other dangerous wildlife so close to the camp...the sense of excitement and adrenaline that filled Wypher to the brim seeing these new beasts kept him up all night as he snuck back home. The next day, Wypher would try to talk with his family about trying to learn hunting, promising to be careful and to not take on more than he can chew. An hour of arguing ensued, with Wypher explaining that he believes he can do so much more for the camp if he could get the opportunity to try, and his family terrified for his safety. Finally, Wypher's father stabbed a small dagger into the table they were discussing around. "If you can catch a squirrel, quick as they are, with only this knife? You earn my blessing.", he would say. Wypher had the biggest smile on his face. It took him three days to catch one. ...It may have been one of the most exciting moments of his life to that point.

Family
Wypher was raised by Arjm and Raem Rehw-Marouc of the Gridanian Forests. The camp was known well for it's providings of skins and potions to neighboring camps, with Wypher's parents being some of the higher-ranking individuals within the clan due to their expertise alchemy skills. Both Arjm and Raem were very positive, very energetic, very easy to get along with - Entering their shop for a potion was bound to have you leaving with a smile whether you expected to or not!However...Arjm and Raem were not Wypher's birth parents, unbeknownst to Wypher for a large part of his life. Truth be told, no one truly knows where his birth parents are - Wypher had been originally found through a small rift as a baby, left in an opening near to the camp with only 'Wypher' carved into the basket that was carrying the babe. Raem had chosen to take care of the baby as it looked like it had a few small injuries, and she wanted to make sure she could take care of him with alchemical remedies. To this point, it's unsure if Wypher had come to this world through another shard - and how that could have happened if that were the case. Even after learning the truth about his parents, Wypher says that Arjm and Raem are his parents, no matter where he came from - "It doesn't matter where I was born. What matters is how I grew!", he told them one day. While Wypher has traveled far now, he still takes time out of his journeys to write to his parents to this day, if not stopping to visit if they are close enough.

Life at Camp
Wypher's camp was a decently built settlement that has been around since before the Calamity by a long while. Tall trees adorned with ladders surround the camp, with natural pathways being utilized to get from tent or hut to the next. Many growing up in the camp were taught to walk on fallen trees at a very young age due to how many trees were utilized to get up to higher areas. The group staying there comprised of approximately 50 people - Each were very close with one another, considering each other as family. On birth, each individual would be given a job based on their family and the path chosen for them by the 'Speaker' - the leader of the camp. Most jobs would be rather straight-forward; The leatherworker's son would stay home and carry on the family legacy. The hunter's daughter would be taught with bow and arrow. When Wypher was brought before the Speaker for her blessing, however, the Speaker did not provide a job to Wypher, saying 'he has yet to show who he will be'.This would be the first time the Speaker would not give a job to a youth that is entering the camp. Very well, it could be the last. Wypher's time at the camp brings back many fond memories...Whether it be sneaking a snack from the food tent, learning acrobatics around the trees, getting to learn his alchemy, or watching his parents have so much fun with what they do - Given the opportunity to restart, Wypher couldn't imagine changing a single thing...Except maybe one more piece of meat.

Venturing Out
It would not be long after learning how to hunt, chase, track and fight that Wypher started to realize that the life he was meant to live was not here. Despite learning alchemy so actively from his family, he couldn't find a joy in exclusively making potions and antidotes. He didn't see the same joy that his parents did from selling stock and helping the town in that way. Wypher wanted to do something more. Maybe some god or goddess heard this thought around this point...Shortly after Wypher started thinking he wanted to do more, a fight would break out in the forest outside the camp from a rather large monster - some wyvern-like creature covered in ash. Wypher joined the hunters who were struggling, using his speed to trick the wyvern, and some alchemical concoctions to fell it. A small group of adventurers who were also helping thanked the camp hunters for the help, noting they would be returning to their adventurer's guild. Seeing their gear, the fun they got to have in this fight...Wypher was star-struck!Luckily the adventurers were offered a chance to stay in the camp for the night, giving them rest and reprieve from their journey. Wypher had plenty of questions about their line of work, the thrills of it, what they got to fight, when they got to explore- The questions were a bit endless. However, through the entirety of the conversation, Wypher learned two things: The first, that he wanted to be an adventurer. He truly believed this would be the way he could help others. That it was his purpose. The second was venturing to the adventurer's guild these individuals pointed to: The Navigator's Notebook.

A Shard of Azem
It would not be until rather far into his journey that Sievan would pull Wypher aside and talk with him about Azem: Namely, that within Wypher was a shard of Azem, an Ancient with a yearning for travel and helping their better man. Sievan explained that he held the majority of the other shards, with each one growing his strength and abilities.Through Sievan, Wypher has gotten a chance to learn much more about who Azem was - and is! As they would talk (either through the shard he carries, or through Sievan when Azem would take control of his body), he would see more and more similarities between them. The positivity, the want to help others...Though hearing of the shards being rejoined, Wypher had a brief concern that Sievan would end up taking this shard from him at some point.Sievan has reassured Wypher that realistically, he didn't expect to have the shards he currently carries even, and that Azem is enough of a pain in the (hey!?) with how he is now; He has no plans to reclaim Wypher's shard. Knowing this, Wypher has been asking himself, knowing that each reflection of the source should only have one fragment of Azem...Where is Wypher actually from? How much of Wypher's life does he not even know himself? This question helps drive him forward in even the harshest of situations.
Jobs/Bio
Wypher is a 23 year old male rava Viera who, since his journey has started, has picked up a multitude of different battle styles. His personality has positivity to a fault, and is always looking to make a better place for the people around him.Wypher's main proficiency would be with his knives and alchemy combo. Using his knives, Wypher is able to take quick approach on many a foe. His speed is unmatched when it comes to ground movement - He learned how to keep up with the fastest of beasts while hunting, and he takes that same policy with him in adventuring. His alchemy gives him skills of making different concoctions, whether it be to summon an electric shock, a fiery explosion, or making a potion to hone in on his own reflexes. Combining these talents has given him an edge on many who have joined the Rogue's Guild. In addition to this; more recently, Wypher has been learning the art of dark knight, and the spells of Astrologian. His Dark Knight prowess comes from wanting to learn to help his friends utilizing his speed and heartiness from the techniques. While he does not have full control of these skills (He still battles Fray for control on occasion), he is becoming much more proficient in being able to fight with larger weapons. His Astrologian path was a magic he had started learning as a child unwittingly, working with the Speaker, who led the camp he grew up in, to hone this skill. As he's grown, he's learned to use some more of the path of the stars in order to help mend those wounds with "A touch of luck, and a gift of fate.", as he would say.
